I've noticed a handful of forums are basically repeats (or, close enough) of other forums. And, there really is no rhyme or reason to the forums' sequence.
If you want to increase board traffic and use, less is more. Less forums, better organized makes everything nice and simple. Ultimately, you don't need to hunt and peck through as many forums to find the active threads or, threads people are currently participating in.
- The GOD Ace Frehley & KISS, could easily be merged into one forum as neither has enough activity to justify two separate forums
- The Yak Shack, The New Asylum & Freaky Opinions are all similar general discussion forums and merging them all into The Yak Shack would serve the same purpose and add threads to that forum
- The Garage & Lost In Limbo are both technical assistance forums, the slight difference between them isn't significant enough to need separate forums. Since this is an Ace themed site, maybe keep Lost In Limbo and merge the threads from The Garage into it?
- Adult Discussion & Ace Lust, is there enough activity between them to need two forums? Plus, they're both for adults over 18, the "girls only" thing is sort of juvenile when we're all supposed to be adults. Plus, there's enough gay and bi users that drawing a line based on genitals is silly.
Anyway, now that I've explained the method to my madness, here's an example of what it might look like. Essentially, by merging the forums, it would amount to five fewer and still route conversations accordingly.
Love it or hate it. It was just something that struck me when I saw the improvements so far, and thought it was worth a share. Cheers!
