Walk the Line

Postby Pacific Ocean Blue » Tue May 30, 2006 6:14 pm

:snore:

BORING!!!

We got absolutely NO insight into Cash's songwriting.

NO insight into his storytelling.

NO insight into the recording of his classic hits.

NO insight into his musicianship.

NO insight into his career.

NO insight into Sun Records.

It was a chick-flick disguised as a biopic, which means it was 2 hours 15 mins of love story, with a song now and then. What a fucking gyp. I was so fucking bored by the end of it that I was getting angry.

The sad thing is, Cash's life is fascinating and the cast was fucking fantastic in their roles... but it gave us absolutely NOTHING about his MUSIC, and it's his MUSIC that made him great.

Here's a synpopsis of the film for you...

His brother died. He was in the army. He got married. Oh yeah, he sang a song or 2.

"June, will ya marry me?" "No."

"June, will ya marry me?" "No!"

"Hey, Elvis!"

(pops pills)

"June, will ya marry me?" "I said NO!"

"Hi, Killer!"

(drinks beer)

"June will ya marry me?" "Yes."

THE END.

I just saved you all the time and expense to see this film.

I haven't seen this yet and I liked Johnny Cash, his music and him, but when I seen the previews it looked ok, but really wasn't sure if I wanted to see it or not. Thanks for the info Blue

I thought the movie was great....

But it did lack the story of his "music" in it...

But did y'all know that Johnny Cash helped
Joaquin Phoenix with his role before he died...

Maybe the real story here wasnt suppose to be about the
music but rather the love between Johnny and June...

June to Johnny was like Yoko to Lennon.

I thought it was a good film. Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix both sang their parts in that movie.

And for not being singers at all...I think they did an excellent job.

I first responded to this thread in 2007 and this movie is still one of my favorites.  My wife still looks like Reese Witherspoon too.
If you play a Nickelback CD backwards you get Satanic messages.  Even worse, if you play it forward you get Nickelback music.
