The Grudge

Postby shoeie » Wed Feb 02, 2005 12:04 pm

This is an American adaptation of a Japanese horror film starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
I watched it last night. It reminded me of a live action Anime film.

Still gives me the chills. That part when Sarah Michelle Gellar
was on the floor with her bf and that THING came crawling down the stairs...

OH GOD........ :eek1 :eek1 :eek1

I think I turned every damn light on in the house
when that movie was over.... :lol

Fucking creepy movie.

I bought it last night. I don't know why.

Seeing it in the theatre was alot scarier than watching it on my TV.

Ummm.. I rented The Grudge on Fri and fucking HATED it.

The acting was terrible, the story was convoluted, the pacing of the whole thing was so predictable... I mean, how many fuckin' times can I really be interested in some new character that inevitably goes wandering around investigating noises or looking for someone, then suddenly some little brat in makeup jumps out and the film does a fade-out into the next scene.

It was just like watching a made-for-TV movie, especially the parts with Sarah Gellar... watching her totally wooden, unconvincing acting makes it seem like the film is an after-school special.

Non-frightening Jap tripe.

(How's that for honest reviewing? lol)

You have to remember that Japanese movies are not as bloody as ours. They are still trapped in the 50's style of movie making...

I don't like bloody movies. I like suspenseful psychological/supernatural thrillers.

But there was no reason rhyme nor reason behind that story. There's a kid who kills people, a chick who kills people. End of story. That took all of 2 seconds to explain. :rolleyes1

It was honestly one of the worst horror films and the biggest disappointments for me in a couple of years.

Gimme "The Changeling" or "The Others" or "Burnt Offerings" instead...

I agree, it wasn't a well written movie. But for some reason it still creeped me out. Especially that dead bitch coming down those stairs. FUCK!!

The ending totally sucked. It was like they just couldn't come up with anything else.

I'm going to a friend's house so she can watch it too. She tends to get scared easier than me.

This is going to be fun. :devillaugh

I don't tend to scare all that easy but
when it comes to shit creeping down the stairs or
out of a wall etc.... I get the HOLY FUCK scared outta me.

The part in Pet Semetary that scared the holy hell outta me
was when the woman would remember her
sister all crippled up in that bed.....
:eek1 :eek1

I had to laugh during that part in "The Others" when the kids
were hiding in the closet.... When that old lady opened the door.

My step son was sitting in a chair with wheels on it and that part
freaked him out so bad he flew back and fell on his ass. :lol
